A 2008 traffic accident in Holland Township was among the early signs — and the only reported local instance — of acceleration problems that led to the recall of 8 million Toyota-made vehicles. Lexus driver Mary Leonard and the other party in the crash, Charles Herrell, are suing the automaker for breach of warranty and negligence.
